Vintage Halloween Blow Molds

This summer we found a few vintage Halloween items while out junking. I decided to sell these blow molds. I think they are really cool but figured I didn't need them and would rather have the money. So off they went to ebay. I'm happy to say that they are now on their way to new homes.

Witch with a Pumpkin

Vintage trick or treat pumpkin bucket. This is a really tiny one - but very cute. The bottom makes it even neater in my opinion.

Wheeled Vintage Cart

You may remember several posts back where I posted about some projects that I wanted to complete. Click HERE to see the original post.

I was able to finish one of the projects - the wheeled cart.
Here is the before picture:
Here it is after:
I am using it for a desk cart. It sits next to my desk to hold supplies. This keeps my desk top clean so that the kids can do their homework there.

While I was spray painting I decided to do the tape dispenser.
In case you are wondering I chose this paint. My hubs was the one who did the painting. He actually complained a lot about the quality of the paint so I'm not endorsing the paint - but the color is pretty.

One down, a lot more to go!

My Favorites

October is my favorite month of the year hands down. To celebrate, I am sharing some of my favorite vintage items in photo form each day on Instagram. Since I don't have as much time to blog as I would like to, I make time to snap a quick photo or two with my phone and post it to Instagram each day. It is sort of a mini-blog if you will. If you use Instagram I welcome you to follow me - user name kayteejaneshouse. If you haven't yet discovered Instagram and you have a smart phone I encourage you to get on the band wagon. It is fun to see other vintage-loving people like myself sharing their finds too.

In case you missed it, I will be sharing the pics here on Fridays this month as well.

Here are some of my favorite vintage things for the first week of October:
1. tin tray with leaves
2. Holly Hobbie tin trash can
3. McCoy squirrel

Recent Finds

September was a pretty good month for vintage finds. Although yard sales around my area are dwindling, I was able to find all of these items - with the exception of one - at yard sales.

Anchor Hocking Fire King Bowls + one Pyrex bowl mixed in:
This set of bowls was found at a yard sale. It was the kind of sale that all the vintage collectors out there will relate to - the new stuff {a.k.a. worthless Walmart crap} was priced high, and the one vintage item that was really worth more than all of that other stuff combined - was priced low. Score!  Hubby is actually the one who found this bowl set - not me. After he brought it home we realized that one of the bowls was Pyrex. Double score!

"One of these things is not like the others"...This was the Pyrex bowl nestled amongst the others.

Also found at a yard sale - a tin trash can in red and a tin tray.

Hubby and I spent a recent Sunday morning at the flea market and this is what I came home with. I walked the entire flea looking for Pyrex. There wasn't much of it to be found, which was sort of disappointing. When I saw this I didn't hesitate. I whipped out my cash and bought it! I LOVE it. The Friendship pattern is growing on me. Maybe because it was released the same year that I was born, 1971.

Happy Day!

Week Night Thrift Store Run...

This week I needed to take a last minute trip to the thrift looking for something for a project. I didn't find what I went there for, but I did come away with a few things.

I bought these orange candles. They are the perfect color orange for Halloween. I think they look good against the white milk glass.

I also found this sweet little pitcher. It was only 99 cents. It will make a cute little vase.

These finds - which cost me next to nothing - made my Monday evening!

Christmas Craft Books

I've been to several thrift stores in the past weeks and have found absolutely nothing of value. Lots of lots of things for sale - but nothing worth buying. It has been disappointing to say the least. This past weekend I went to three different thrift stores on Saturday looking for Pyrex. There was nothing. I did however find a few records and some vintage craft books - all for Christmas.

These are the craft books. They were published in the early 1970's. I love the projects in them. They are retro enough that they are back in style again - and not dated and ugly. I swear Martha Stewart must find vintage craft mags and steal their ideas. Some of the projects remind me of things I've seen in her magazines. I was thinking of listing these on etsy but now I'm not sure. The projects are great.

I love these felt gingerbread houses.
Lots of cute ornaments to make.
Check out the mouse sleeping on the hammock! LOVE.
And these awesome felt silhouette scenes of kids playing in the snow.

I also bought two records at the same store. I am dreaming of the day when I can actually play these. I want a vintage stereo/record player in the worst way - but have yet to find one that I can afford or I like the looks of. Since these records were only a quarter each I bought them anyway - for the future. I mean who can resist an album with vintage Barbra? I can't.

All if all I am happy with these finds!

Ring Holder

Not sure what the original purpose of this little milk glass cup was. Salt holder? I found it at the estate sale where I got all of the milk glass and the yard long picture. There was only one. I think it makes a stylish ring holder. I love that it stands on a pedestal.

I keep it next to my kitchen sink for when I take off my rings to wash my hands or do dishes. Lord knows that I need such an item because I am always misplacing my wedding bands. I don't really like to wear them when I'm doing the dishes so I often take off the rings and put them in my pants pocket - or worse, just lay them somewhere. Then I promptly forget about them until the next day when I go to put them on again. I have found my rings on the bottom of the washing machine a few times. Recently I "lost" them again. Hubby was nice enough to point out that I had a ring holder and I ought to use it! Yes Dear.
